MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary is not just any old private club – it sits on the gorgeous Lake MacGregor with plenty of activities for everyone. Their pool is situated on the shores of the beautiful water. The MacGregor Downs tennis complex contains 8 clay courts featuring state-of-the-art vertical burn illumination and three additional hard courts. MacGregor Downs has an outstanding golf course, and because of its immaculate playing conditions, the 18-hole private golf course is consistently recognized as one of the best in the Southeast.
Schools
Since Cary is such a popular destination, many schools have reached the maximum number of students they can effectively teach so your base school might have an enrollment cap. If you recently moved to your home or planning to live in the MacGregor Downs neighborhood, your child may be assigned to an overflow school. There are many other available options though. Farmington Woods Elementary is one of the nation’s best Magnet Elementary schools just minutes from MacGregor Downs. If you are lucky enough, your child might start there.

Within a few minutes, you can hop on one of Cary’s beautiful Greenways. Greenways are a great way to get out and explore the natural beauty of our city. They provide access into pristine areas that would have otherwise been lost, like along wooded stream corridors or in floodplains.
Greenway trails often lead you right through some really scenic spots such as preserves with a rich history – if it’s your first time going on an adventure near water then don’t worry because these Greenways will take your breath away.
Restaurants
MacGregor has its own little shopping mall, MacGregor Village with several restaurants, a bakery, MacGregor Draft house, and many more. Wasabi Sushi and Thai restaurant is very popular, averaging a 4.4-star rating. If you’re ever craving cookies or a satisfying dessert, you can take a walk to Baked Cookies & Dough. Although, if you prefer seafood, Tonys tap and oyster is a great option!
