I thought since we have experienced this as a family, I would share with you some of our insights of moving to North Carolina from Los Angeles California. I will be sharing some of the pros and cons because moving to Cary was a big step for our family. Initially, we were just going to check out the Raleigh area of North Carolina. See how the area is, how are the schools, what family life is going to look like here vs L.A. One of the biggest things for me when I came here in 2011 before I started my Real Estate company was how beautiful North Carolina is. We traveled to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, and we traveled to Carolina Beach. Our first stop was Carolina Beach, which is about 2 and ½ hours away but we went all the way down to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina which is about 1 hour away from Carolina Beach and just over 3 hours from Cary NC. Being used to the Pacific Ocean’s temperature in Los Angeles, we were stunned by how warm the water was on the East Coast! Cary, Raleigh, Apex, Durham, Chapel Hill, Morrisville, and surrounding cities are pretty much connected by a plethora of greenways.

For me, it just felt like home! I’m sure among other questions, you’d like to know what kind of stores can you find. Well, from Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Publix, Wegmans, Harris Teeter to Target and Walmart, you can find them all! You might not find the same restaurants selection as you would in Los Angeles or San Francisco but I can assure you that there are plenty to choose from!

Another reason we decided to stay was housing. I couldn’t believe that we were able to buy our first house here for a fraction of our condo’s cost in Los Angeles. Our lifestyle has completely changed! We suddenly owned a just under 3,000 square-foot home with a master bedroom downstairs and a beautiful yard.
